Quarterly meeting of the state committee for the purposes of planning and implementing Tree Farm activities. Will be looking at programs and activities for 2009.

October 25, 2008, Huntley Woods Tree Research Facility Tour
Join Lant Huntley, certified arborist and landowner, as he speaks about the issues facing landowners that transcend fence lines and property boundaries. Invasive species, emerald ash borer, thinning hardwood plantings and reforestation from direct seeding will all be discussed and featured on the tour.
Directions: At intersection of Hwy 64 and Rt 2 go north 1.5 miles. Research facility on west side of road across from the Stillman bank.

Eldred, IL (Greene county)
Calling all Tree Farmers to the Dan Schmoker Tree Farm near Eldred in Greene county. Meet new friends and get involved in Tree Farm program. There will be plenty of time to look, learn and listen about some of the forestry practices that are working (or not). See logging and skidding operations; control efforts on bush honeysuckle and garlic mustard; learn how to properly & safely fell a tree.
